Shanghai nights come to life at our theme parties, when the ballroom is transformed into exuberant representations of Shanghai’s old and new.
You might find yourself sipping a martini in a glamorous contemporary salon, doing the Charleston at a 1930s soiree or watching lion dances by the glow of red laterns at a classical Chinese evening. The original themes, each of which is richly choreographed, are accompanied by fare created specially for the occasion by our own team of talented chefs.
Glamorous Shanghai
The “Glamorous Shanghai” parties are set in a silver fantasy land created in our Grand Ballroom, where starry lights surround the glittering crystal chandeliers. A 20-piece band sets the tempo, interspersed with additional entertainment and sideshows throughout the evening, creating a mood of understated, enchanting elegance and refinement.
We Shall Dance
Our “We Shall Dance” parties are set in the Shanghai’s belle époque, where guests gather to pay tribute to a lifestyle of luxury. Set in the ballroom of a financier’s palace, the mood is one of extrovert Western animation. Music is provided by a 25-piece orchestra playing Lain, jazz and tango beats, with professional dancers performing throughout the evening. Vivid colors and motifs, emblematic of the times, contribute to the lively scene.
